The Musicals

9 to 5

Spring 2025 took Osseo Drama back to the late 70s with Dolly Parton’s hit based on the hit film! Heavily based in sitcom humor reflective of the time, Osseo’s story focused on the power of women in the office of Consolidated Industries. Building on the humorous concepts of the earlier fall play Rumors, Caleb infused slapstick and physical comedy into a story with so much heart.

Featuring a cast of 40+, it was time to introduce Osseo’s students to a contemporary score and story featuring the voices of women and allow students to discover how the time period still remains relevant. (All while dancing to fantstic tunes by an American legend)

Shrek Jr. at Artistry MN

Fresh off an Associate Director position under Kelli Foster Warder, Caleb was hired to help develop and direct their Jr. Summer Intensive - Shrek. Over the course of 2.5 weeks, Caleb and his hand-picked team cast, designed, directed, and did everything in between, along with 12 of the most enthusiastic students. Taking Shrek away from its larger-than-life concept and breaking it down to the story of young voices and the act of play, actors remained on stage for the duration of the performance, pulling costumes and props right off racks and out of suitcases encouraging audiences to dive into their imaginations.

Curtains

Classic 1950s closed-door murder mystery comes to life on the Osseo stage in the spring of 2024! The hidden gem that is Kander & Ebb’s final work, Curtains, was a hit in a large-scale production featuring over 40 Osseo students. Teaching how to develop relationships on stage, play to time period tropes, and classic Broadway style, Caleb worked with students to develop this little-known musical and infuse a high level of camp to keep audiences not only guessing but laughing through the mystery.

The Addams Family

Continuing the spooky theme from their fall play, the spring musical at Osseo dove into the popular high school show with one of the grandest sets on display. Taking on both choreography and direction, Caleb built on nostalgia and a pop sound to welcome audiences to the famous family’s home. Receiving high honors from Hennepin Arts Spotlight program, students involved in the production were welcomed to the State Theater in June to perform a medley from the show to a sold out audience.
